Lisa, I do not insinuate that any particular cohort of patients (or widows, for that matter) have it any easier than another group. One of my goals, as stated above, is to challenge funding inequities until all cancers are treated equally, which is the exact same point that you closed with.

I think that you and I may have more in common than we realize.

You are mad as hell?Let me run my circunmstances by you.I am a 33 year old mother of 2 children who has breast cancer. So,you think we recieve the "lions share" of research and patient support? Not!!!It is true that alot of research has been funded for breast cancer. But I assure you the patient support is no where to be found. The American Cancer Society is joke.As are most others that say they support women with breast cancer. My cancer was no less serious than your husbands was.I don't know where you get the idea that breast cancer is highly treatable, that varies with each case.Breast cancer is a leading cause of death in women 35-50.I had both of my breasts removed.I had 19 lymph nodes removed from my underarm.I had 4 months of Chemo. One of which is Adryamiacin from which I got heart failure.I experienced the same side effects from the harsh treatment.I have neuropathy in my legs.Soon I will be having a hysterectomy because my cancer was fed by estrogen.I have to have weekly infusions of Herceptin for a year and will be on Tamoxifen or an Aromatase inhibitor for the rest of my life.I also have joint pain, fatigue, hot flashes etc with these drugs.I also had a mental breakdown and was in a psych hospital for 10 days where I just added to my daily list of meds.I am suffering from major depression and panic disorder.I am in constant pain in my chest, ribs, back and legs.I have to take Oxycontin and Percocet just to try to fuction.I start pain management next month.I have 2 kids and I am in fear every second of every day that I will die and leave them.I applied for SSDI and I do have my quarters worked in since I had worked since age 14.I haven't recieved an answer yet.So we had to move in with my mother and we still can't make ends meet.Try having to choose between your medicine or food for your kids.I understand that you are devestated by losing your husband. But how dare you say that my battle hasn't been as hard.Walk a mile in my shoes, you just have no clue.I hope that they find a cure for ALL cancers.Cancer is cancer. So why not trying to focus all your anger on that.Make that your quest.
